West Kirby Working Group

We are a group of local residents and members of the Hoylake and District Civic Society who want to help persuade the Council that its regeneration plans for our area could be much improved, particularly through more effective consultation. To date, a number of citizens have been formulating arguments, but arguably we, as a community, are not presenting a sufficiently united case to the Council. We wish to try to pull together as many of the different efforts with the aim of doing the following:

  • Publicising all the issues widely in order to engage as much public opinion as possible and stimulate a broad public response.

  • Creating 'Representations' to the Council, that is to say documents reflecting local opinions on West Kirby Regeneration and couched in terms intended to persuade through argument.

  • Developing our own website in order to draw on expertise and knowledge to inform the publicity and the Representations, and to be itself a source of useful information.

In order to achieve these ends we seek the support of like-minded people who have pertinent knowledge, advice, ideas, concerns, opinions, etc.

We are not trying to impede or gainsay anyones individual efforts, only to channel as many of them as possible into a single case which the Council will see as rational and powerful. Where we are unable to find a consensus view, we will include the differing ones. All information and opinions gathered and stored will be public and form the basis for the Representations.

If you are willing to support this effort, please contact us.
